Envestnet to acquire Vestmark, adding $2T in supported assets

What's the deal? Envestnet has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Vestmark, a provider of portfolio management technology, institutional-grade trading, and outsourced investment management services. Vestmark supports more than $2 trillion in assets and over five million accounts across the wealth management industry.

What each company does: Envestnet is a wealth technology company serving more than a third of all advisors and $8 trillion in platform assets. Vestmark, founded 25 years ago, serves wirehouses and other firms running institutional-grade trading operations.

Why now? As wealth firms grow, their operating models shift and their technology demands become more complex. Envestnet frames the deal as a way to serve everyone from emerging RIAs to the largest advisory firms on one platform, without forced migration.

What's the endgame? Envestnet wants a single connected ecosystem spanning the full wealth management lifecycle — from understanding an investor's needs to constructing, personalising, trading, and managing portfolios at scale. Both firms will keep investing in existing products, including VestmarkONE, VAST, Envestnet Enterprise, Tamarac, and MoneyGuide, with added spending on AI-forward workflows.

Vestmark's trading, tax transition, and engineering capabilities bring a complementary client base to Envestnet, plus a deeper pool of data drawn from some of the market's most sophisticated participants.

What they're saying: "Wealth management offerings have been siloed for too long, with advisors, traders, and portfolio managers each locked into their own piece of the puzzle," said Chris Todd, chief executive officer of Envestnet. "We're not slowing down to make this happen — we're speeding up."

Todd added that Envestnet's AI strategy "will extend across Vestmark's workflows too," calling it "a real reimagining of how advisors do their jobs."

The signal: The deal reflects consolidation in wealth technology as firms race to unify siloed trading, tax, and portfolio tools onto single platforms — with AI increasingly the differentiator advisors are told to expect.
