DermaSensor raises $5M, opens skin-cancer device round to the public

What's the deal? DermaSensor, a Miami-based maker of an AI-powered skin cancer diagnostic device, has raised $5 million as it extends its Series B and opens the round to retail investors via Wefunder. Why the crowd? Chief executive officer and co-founder Cody Simmons framed the Wefunder round as extending ownership beyond professional investors. "We want the people closest to it to have a seat at the table," he said, noting that one in five Americans are affected by skin cancer.

What else? DermaSensor announced four new US partnerships to widen distribution across primary care, enterprise healthcare, and federal systems. The signal: DermaSensor is building commercial infrastructure to scale a newly created diagnostic category nationwide. Pairing institutional capital with a public raise and four distribution deals signals a push from clinical validation toward mainstream adoption.
