HelmGuard raises $7.3M seed to automate compliance for regulated industries

What's the deal? London-based HelmGuard has raised $7.3 million in seed funding to expand its platform that automates risk and compliance assessments. What's the endgame? HelmGuard, co-founded by former Palantir executive John Daley (CEO) and Jack Miller (CTO), builds specialised AI agents that assess risk directly from a company's systems. It targets regulated sectors including finance, insurance, healthcare, and industrials.

Why now? Risk teams traditionally rely on questionnaires, documentation, and manual reviews. As companies onboard more vendors and deploy AI across operations, keeping those assessments current becomes harder.

The platform pulls risk, security, and compliance data from documents and source systems into one interconnected layer. AI agents then automate workflows such as third-party risk management and control gap assessments, providing citations and reasoning traces alongside human oversight for auditors and regulators.

Daley said many existing compliance platforms were built to document processes, not support decisions. "Our agents go to the source to collect and assess risk signals directly, abstracting away the manual data collection and assessment work that burns thousands of hours annually," he said.

What's next? The funding supports US expansion, with a presence in New York and San Francisco alongside the London headquarters. HelmGuard also plans to grow its engineering and commercial teams and develop an agent assurance layer to evaluate AI agent behaviour at runtime.

Its planned Verified Risk Network aims to let organisations exchange verified risk information continuously. "The Verified Risk Network makes the unit of assurance a claim assessed directly by an agent, rather than a document," Miller said.

The signal: The round sits near the top of its class — above the 96th percentile for all-time UK seed security deals. That reflects growing investor appetite for tools that govern AI systems as their risk profiles shift with each model update.
