What's the endgame? Hope Care develops OpMA, a regulated platform for remote patient monitoring and telehealth. It pulls together data from medical devices, patient-reported information, and clinical workflows in one place, running programmes for various chronic diseases.

What's the money for? The company will use the funding to expand across Europe by reinforcing its commercial and operational teams and launching new monitoring programmes. It already operates in Portugal and France and has a project underway in Switzerland.

Where next? Hope Care recently set up Hope Care GmbH in Erlangen, Germany, based in Medical Valley, one of Europe's main healthcare innovation hubs. Its first deployment in the German market is planned for October.

By the numbers: Based in Óbidos, Hope Care has its technology installed across 15 local health units covering about 45% of patients registered with Portugal's national health service, plus regional services in Madeira and the Azores. Sales in the first half of 2026 reached 2.5 times the level recorded in the same period a year earlier.

Why now? João Henriques, partner at Iberis Capital, framed the growth against rising pressure on European health systems from an increase in chronic diseases. He said the company combines the technological capacity and clinical experience to scale within European public health systems.

"This Series A marks a new stage for Hope Care," said José Paulo Carvalho, founder and chief executive officer. "We are now well positioned to accelerate our European expansion and bring this care model to more health organisations" (translated from Portuguese).

The signal: Remote patient monitoring is drawing investor attention as ageing populations and chronic disease strain public health budgets. Hope Care's certified, already-deployed platform gives it a foothold to test whether that model scales beyond Portugal.
