Try Dealroom →,” an actively managed global equity fund that invests only in companies with documented relevance for women’s health, Norwegian business daily Dagens NæringslivDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → reports. Portfolio manager and physician Anesa Mulabecirovic Sahnoun leads the fund, which will hold roughly 35 to 50 companies.
What’s the endgame? The fund spans pharmaceuticals, diagnostics, medical technology, health services, and consumer products. DNB says it is the first of its kind globally.
“As far as we know, this is the first equity fund in the world that only invests in companies with relevance for women’s health,” Sahnoun says (translated from Norwegian).
Why now? Sahnoun points to long-term demand, noting four out of five patients with autoimmune disease are women. She expects the share affected by migraine, osteoporosis, and breast cancer to rise as the population grows and lives longer.
What could go wrong? The fund’s annual cost is 1.21%, including platform fee — more than six times the 0.2% cost of DNB’s global index fund.
The signal: “My view is that women’s health is an investment category, and that you can make money from it,” Sahnoun says. DNB is betting that a long-overlooked segment can stand on its own as a theme investors will pay a premium to access.
