Try Dealroom →, the only independent telecom tower operator in the Southern Cone. The minority stake will fund the expansion and optimisation of shared telecom infrastructure across Argentina, Paraguay, and Uruguay.

What does Atis do? Founded in 2016, the company owns and operates more than 1,000 tower sites across the three markets. As a neutral, carrier-agnostic provider, it serves all leading mobile network operators under long-term master lease agreements.

Where does the money go? The project will finance new towers — mainly under build-to-suit agreements — and expand use of existing sites through tower sharing. That model lets multiple operators use the same infrastructure, cutting asset duplication while extending coverage.

Why now? IDB Invest is framing the deal as a way to close persistent connectivity gaps in the region. "Expanding digital infrastructure requires long-term capital and innovative business models," said Guillermo Foscarini, managing director and division chief of corporates at IDB Invest.

Who's backing it? IDB Invest, a member of the IDB GroupDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, is a multilateral development bank focused on private-sector development in Latin America and the Caribbean. It manages a $22 billion portfolio and serves more than 400 clients across 25 countries.

Beyond the cash: The bank will also help Atis implement environmental, social, and governance standards, including stronger management systems, worker and community safety practices, and corporate governance. These measures aim to reinforce transparency and the long-term sustainability of the regional platform.

The signal: Independent tower operators let carriers scale networks without building duplicate infrastructure, and development banks are increasingly funding that shared model to meet rising data demand. For the Southern Cone, the bet is that better connectivity translates into greater productivity and competitiveness.
