What's the endgame? KG Motors aims for a world where "anyone can move freely, safely, comfortably, and affordably" (translated from Japanese). The mibot fits within the moped-microcar category, offering safety and comfort while cutting the costs of owning a car.

Why now? The company has already begun initial production at its own facility. It is running pilots and early deployments with local governments and businesses to establish new forms of movement.

What's the endgame? The fund cited KG Motors' management passion, its base of committed partners, and its steady progress toward mass production and social implementation as reasons for backing it.

"We aim for the mibot to take root in local communities as a small car that supports each person's mobility," said chief executive officer Kazunari Kusunoki (translated from Japanese). He added that the company will pursue co-creation in energy and other regional challenges.
