Blue Water Index raises $2M seed round to fix boat valuations

What's the deal? Blue Water IndexDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, a marine valuation and marketing intelligence platform, has raised a $2 million seed round to fund further development. The company was founded by enterprise software veteran and longtime sailor Robb Corrigan.

What's the endgame? Blue Water Index aims to provide an independent reference for what a boat is worth. Corrigan built it after trying to buy a boat and finding no way to establish its value independently.

"My background is in enterprise technology, data and AI, so I looked at it and thought, This isn't an unsolvable quirk of the boat market. It's a data problem," Corrigan said.

Where the money goes: The company will accelerate engineering and data science, expand commercial activity, and support licensed data, infrastructure, and compliance. Planned hires include a senior data scientist and full-stack engineers.

Blue Water Index also plans to build founder-led sales, secure its first lender and insurer partnerships, and bring in a marine-industry sales lead as it scales.

The signal: At $2 million, the round lands in the 34.8th percentile for seed deals — modest capital aimed at a narrow, data-driven problem. It reflects a pattern of applying enterprise data and AI tools to overlooked, offline markets.
