Try Dealroom →, a Dutch digital strategy consultancy founded in 2010, in a bolt-on deal that closes on September 1, 2026. Financial terms were not disclosed. SparkOptimus employs around 50 consultants in Amsterdam, with a small team in the DACH region.

What each side brings: SparkOptimus specialises in digital strategy, including AI transformation and digital business model redesign. EY-Parthenon, the strategy and transactions arm of EY, counts about 25,000 professionals worldwide.

What's the endgame? The acquisition strengthens EY-Parthenon's presence in the Dutch market and adds AI and data-driven transformation capabilities. Mark Reich, strategy leader at EY-Parthenon in the Netherlands, said the goal is to support clients "from strategic direction through to delivery and large-scale, end-to-end transformation."

Why now? The deal marks EY-Parthenon's first European acquisition since 2021 and roughly its 12th since it was established in 2014. Founders Alexandra Jankovich and Tom Voskes, both ex-McKinseyDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, will remain, framing the move as a step to reach "an even larger stage."

The signal: Big consulting firms are buying specialist boutiques to plug AI and digital gaps rather than build them in-house. EY-Parthenon's return to European dealmaking signals renewed appetite for consolidation as demand for AI-led transformation reshapes the strategy market.
