What's the deal? Switchboard HealthDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, a digital platform connecting patients with specialty care, has acquired Livara Health, a virtual orthopedics and musculoskeletal (MSK) provider. Alongside the deal, Switchboard closed an oversubscribed round of more than $5M in equity financing. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
What's the endgame? For nearly four years, Boise-based Switchboard has connected people to specialty care through its referral and navigation software. Now it will also deliver that care, embedding Livara's MSK program directly into its platform so providers and health plans can enroll patients within their EHR.
Who's involved? San Diego-based Livara — formerly SpineZoneDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → — was founded by Dr. Kamshad Raiszadeh and runs a virtual-first, value-based model using physicians, physical therapists, and psychosocial providers. A 2024 Validation InstituteDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → review found participants achieved a 43% reduction in musculoskeletal spend, driven largely by fewer surgeries.
Why now? Switchboard says patient volume is up 500% over the past nine months. "We see even faster growth ahead of us," said CEO and co-founder Derek Baird.
The financing drew existing Livara and Switchboard backers plus new investors, including First Trust Capital PartnersDealroom has a profile for this one. What they're saying: "The Livara care model, technology, and team members start an exciting new chapter in our work to transform specialty care," Baird said. Livara CEO Rob Cohen added that the deal will "scale the delivery of high-value MSK care."
The signal: The acquisition marks a shift from software-only navigation to owning care delivery — a bet that value-based models can cut costs in one of healthcare's most expensive categories. By pairing referral workflows with a clinically validated MSK program, Switchboard is testing whether integration, not just connection, is where the value lies.
