responsAbility closes $461M Asia climate fund, its largest to date
What's the deal? Swiss impact investor responsAbility Investments AGDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → has reached a final close of $461 million on its Asia Climate Fund, its largest closed-end climate vehicle to date. The private credit fund targets South and Southeast Asia, drawing commitments from institutional investors, family offices, foundations, and development finance institutions.
What's the endgame? The fund will provide private credit to companies in renewable energy, electric mobility, energy efficiency, climate-related infrastructure, and circular economy solutions. It has already committed about $204 million to 17 portfolio companies — roughly 44% of the capital raised.
How it's structured: The fund uses a blended-finance approach, combining concessional public-sector capital with commercial commitments. The concessional portion mobilised more than five times its value in commercial capital, with over $200 million — more than half of total commitments — coming from the private sector.
The International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank GroupDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, committed $50 million to the fund's senior tranche, DealStreetAsia reported last year.
Why now? Blended-finance vehicles use public or philanthropic funding to lower risk and attract private capital into emerging markets that might otherwise struggle to secure financing. "Reaching a final close of $461 million is an important milestone for responsAbility and a strong vote of confidence from our investors," said Stephanie Bilo, the firm's chief client and investment solutions officer.
Founded in 2003 and headquartered in Zurich, responsAbility invests in financial inclusion, climate finance, and sustainable food systems across emerging markets. It is part of UK-based asset manager M&GDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →.

The signal: The close shows growing appetite for structured climate finance in emerging Asia, where public capital is increasingly used to pull commercial money into sectors that fund managers see as underfinanced.
