What's the endgame? Genba Hub sells software that consolidates job-site data — progress, schedules, photos, and reports — and automates routine tasks with AI. It runs on PC and smartphone, aimed at users unfamiliar with IT tools. The new capital will strengthen its AI agent and MCP server development.
Why now? Japan's construction sector faces a deep labour shortage and an ageing workforce, yet digitisation lags. Firms still hunt for photos and quotes by hand and copy figures from daily reports and invoices.
The product: Ahead of its AI agents, Genba Hub launched an AI payment management feature. Users upload invoice PDFs or images, and the system tracks payments and links line items to projects as costs automatically. At an air-conditioning contractor that trialled it, invoice processing time fell from two days to one hour.
Chief executive officer Mitsumasa Okada said the company remains focused on building "starting from the job site" (translated from Japanese), adding that its mission to "support the transformation of the construction industry" is unchanged despite faster AI-driven delivery.
The signal: Vertical AI — models built for a single industry rather than general use — is drawing focused capital. Japan's government names it a priority in its second-phase AI plan, backed by public and private investment. Genba Hub's round is a small early bet on applying that approach to one of the country's least digitised sectors.
