Nanolope raises $872K pre-seed to turn ceilings into thermal batteries
What's the deal? NanolopeDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, a Berlin deep-tech startup, has raised $872,000 in a pre-seed round led by IBB VenturesDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → through its B# fund. Business angels and industry specialists also joined the round.
What's the endgame? Nanolope makes panel-based thermal storage systems that retrofit into the walls, ceilings, and floors of existing buildings. Its panels use phase-change materials made under green chemistry principles, without rare earths, and are claimed to be largely recyclable.
The company targets housing companies and commercial property operators — including hotels, offices, and apartment blocks — that want efficiency upgrades without a full renovation. Nanolope says its panels cut heating and cooling loads, stabilise indoor temperatures, and reduce CO2 emissions.
Why now? The company argues that the heating transition will be decided in existing buildings, where retrofit solutions can be deployed quickly without major structural work.
Who's backing it? IBB Ventures led via B#, a €10 million EU-backed vehicle targeting early-stage deep-tech teams in Berlin with tickets between €100,000 and €400,000.
Nanolope plans to use the capital to scale production, run first pilot projects, and grow its team.
The signal: The round sits in the lower half of comparable deals by size, reflecting appetite for retrofit-focused climate technology aimed at the vast stock of existing buildings.
