Sisuta raises early VC for care-home AI, eyes bank partnership

What's the deal? SisutaDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, a Tokyo-based healthtech startup behind the care-home AI platform "Michicare," has raised an undisclosed early VC round from the Hekishin AOMI Fund. The fund is run by Hekishin Shinkin BankDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → and Shinkin CapitalDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, and the deal is tied to a planned business partnership with the bank.

What's the endgame? Sisuta wants to fix two problems at once: staffing shortages on the floor and thin margins in the back office. Michicare, launched on May 15, 2026, uses AI to automate shift-scheduling and optimise in-facility visit routes alongside resident data and care plans, aiming to lift both productivity and occupancy.

Why now? Japan's ageing population has pushed the care market past ¥20 trillion, yet much of the work remains analogue. Chief executive officer Yuki Umeya said the company finished trials in Aichi Prefecture facilities in partnership with local government before releasing the product.

What's the money for? Sisuta will fund product development and hiring. The bank tie-up is the strategic core: Hekishin will use its business-matching function to connect Sisuta with regional care operators, starting in Aichi Prefecture.

The investors framed the bet around policy and reach. Their platform supports both "defensive DX" — efficiency for a short-staffed sector — and "offensive DX" — helping operators run more profitably, aligning with the health ministry's push for science-based care. Umeya called the deal significant because it goes beyond capital to widen access to local businesses.

The signal: This is a quick re-raise, a sign of momentum for a company positioning itself at the intersection of AI and Japan's care economy. Pairing a startup's software with a regional bank's operator network is an emerging playbook for reaching fragmented, offline industries — and Sisuta says it ultimately aims to take that model overseas.
