Ringkjøbing Landbobank raises DKK 1,017M in Tier 2 debt
What's the deal? Ringkjobing Landbobank has agreed to issue Tier 2 capital worth SEK 900 million and NOK 600 million, effective from August 27, 2026. Swapped into Danish kroner, the two issues total DKK 1,017 million (roughly $159 million). The Danish lender announced the deal on August 20, 2026.
The terms: Both issues carry a maturity of 10.5 years with a first call option after 5.5 years. The SEK issue prices at the three-month Stibor rate plus 135 basis points; the NOK issue at three-month Nibor plus 135 basis points. After swapping into kroner, the combined rate lands at three-month Cibor plus an average margin of 108 basis points.
Why now? The bank framed the move as part of its "ongoing capital planning." Tier 2 debt counts toward regulatory capital buffers, giving banks a cushion against losses without diluting shareholders.
The signal: At about $159 million, the raise ranks in the top tier by size — around the 85th percentile for comparable deals. For a regional Danish bank, tapping Swedish and Norwegian debt markets and swapping the proceeds home shows how mid-sized European lenders are diversifying funding sources to keep capital ratios steady.
