What's the endgame? The two companies have worked together as supplier and ally for more than a decade. "We are investing in a company with established brands, exceptional customer loyalty and an experienced management team," Jain said. "As a family-owned business, we know first-hand what it means to be entrusted with another family's life's work."
Wirth said he is handing over his life's work with its future secured. "With FTS Global, a partner is taking over that knows our industry and our company well, thinks entrepreneurially and shares the values of a family business," he said.
The signal: A supplier turning acquirer reflects how supply-chain players are moving up the value chain into brand ownership, while family-run European fashion houses increasingly turn to long-standing partners to solve succession.
