TDB backs Orthocrafts Innovations for advanced wound dressings

What's the endgame? Orthocrafts processes viable human tissue into shelf-stable substitutes for clinical reconstruction and repair. Its proprietary method removes cellular components while retaining bioactive substances needed for wound healing. The resulting dressings are designed for enhanced tensile strength and an optimal Moisture Vapour Transmission Rate, comparable to existing moist wound dressings.

Why now? The company plans to expand production at the Savli Technology Business Incubator in Vadodara, where it has leased a bio-incubation facility. It has secured Central Drugs Standard Control Organization licences to manufacture medical devices for testing.

The signal: The grant reflects India's push to build domestic capability in advanced biomaterials and tissue-engineered products. TDB secretary Rajesh Kumar Pathak said the support aims to turn the company's tissue-processing expertise into commercially viable wound-care products.
