The product: Alongside the raise, Wispr previewed Canto, its first proprietary speech model. The company says Canto cuts word error rates from over 30% to roughly 5% to 10% in difficult conditions such as background noise, wind, and strong accents.
What's the endgame? Wispr wants to move beyond dictation and build an intelligence layer for human-AI interaction, starting with voice before extending into other modalities and hardware. Its new Advanced Interfaces Lab is led by chief scientist Ariya Rastrow, a founding member of Amazon's Alexa team who previously led multimodal foundation-model work at Meta.
