CARR chief executive officer Joel Williams said both companies focus on helping manufacturers move vaccines and therapies into production. "The Alfa Wassermann team has spent decades perfecting this craft," Williams said, adding that CARR plans to build on those capabilities.
What changes? Alfa Wassermann president and CEO Peter Napoli will stay with the business, which will keep providing sales, service, and engineering support through its existing US and European operations. Its portfolio includes the AW Promatix 1000, PKII, and KII ultracentrifuges, plus the Automated Fluid Handling system.
Why now? Bioprocessing companies are seeking platforms that support both traditional biologics and newer modalities. Cell and gene therapies often require specialized separation and purification, making equipment performance and scalability important as products move from development to commercial production.
The signal: The acquisition gives CARR an established vaccine-manufacturing business alongside exposure to faster-growing cell and gene therapy markets. It extends a CARR portfolio built over roughly 25 years around single- and multi-use centrifugation — the company says it was first to develop single-use continuous centrifugation.
