Why now? To secure the funding, MatAlytics had to demonstrate a highly scalable proof-of-concept AI technology aligned with the UK's strategic need for AI sovereignty. It proposed a frontier AI proof of concept within steel manufacturing, built on its CITRUS software.
What's the endgame? The physics AI embedded in CITRUS lets steel and metal manufacturers predict the thermomechanical behaviour and microstructure of steel slabs and components faster and more accurately. It replaces slower, costlier and less accurate simulation methods. MatAlytics says this can reduce operating costs and carbon emissions while improving product quality and consistency.
