Parts Authority acquires NPW, pushing network to nearly 325 locations

What's the endgame? The combined company will operate nearly 325 locations, gaining NPW's catalogue of more than 1 million part numbers from over 700 brands. NPW's leadership and staff join Parts Authority through the transaction.
The expansion: The acquisition extends Parts Authority's geographic footprint into five new states. The company says NPW's locations complement its existing network, putting inventory closer to customers of both firms.
What's next? Chris Pacey, NPW's current president and chief executive officer, will continue as president of NPW/EPW while taking on a senior role at Parts Authority. NPW was founded by Larry Pacey in 1969; Parts Authority opened in New York four years later.
"The Paceys built a remarkable family business, and we intend to honor that legacy," said Clark Hale, chief executive officer of Parts Authority. He added that the NPW team is "at the heart of this acquisition."
The signal: The deal reflects continued consolidation in the automotive aftermarket, where national distributors are absorbing regional players to widen coverage and deepen inventory. For customers, the pitch is broader product availability with the same local relationships intact.
