Brait pulls in $154M rights offer, lifting share count to 5.5 billion

What's the deal? Brait SEDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, the South African investment holding company, has raised R2.5 billion ($154 million) through a fully subscribed renounceable rights offer. Shareholders took up all 1.66 billion shares on offer, which closed on August 7, 2026.

By the numbers: Shareholders subscribed for 95.3% of available shares through their rights, with excess applications covering the remaining 4.7%. R709 million ($43.8 million) in excess applications went unallocated, with refunds due around August 13, 2026.

What it means: The R2.5 billion in gross proceeds strengthens Brait's capital base and gives it more financial flexibility to manage its portfolio and capital requirements. Its issued ordinary share capital rose from 3.86 billion shares to 5.52 billion.

The details: Because the offer was fully subscribed, TitanDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → and the additional underwriters were not required to take up any shares under their commitments. Brait is headquartered in Port Louis, with its shares primarily listed on the Euro MTF market of the Luxembourg Stock Exchange and a secondary listing in Johannesburg.

The signal: The raise ranks among the larger post-IPO equity deals of its kind, sitting in the 90th percentile by size over the trailing 48 months. Full subscription — without underwriters stepping in — points to solid shareholder backing for Brait's capital strategy.
