Barrick Gold Corporation secures $1.95B from Newmont, clears path for North American IPO

Why now? Newmont has also backed Barrick's plan to list its North American gold assets in an IPO by the end of 2026. The agreement brings previously excluded properties into the joint venture and removes a key obstacle to Barrick's restructuring.
The signal: The settlement combines a significant cash payment with a major portfolio reshaping. Barrick's second-quarter production reached 796,000 ounces of gold and 56,000 tonnes of copper, while the company maintained its 2026 gold-production outlook.
