The deal gives the listed company control over commercialising a 6.3 MW solar plant in Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh.
What's the endgame? Arankam is a special purpose vehicle incorporated in April 2025 to secure long-term power purchase agreements for solar projects in India. The plant was awarded under a PPA with Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited, issued by the Uttar Pradesh New & Renewable Energy Development Agency.
Why phased? RDB will acquire the remaining 51% one year after the Commercial Operation Date. The structure limits upfront capital while tying full ownership to an operational milestone, aligning spending with execution risk.
No governmental or regulatory approvals were required. Managing director Shubham Vaidya confirmed the firm will become a related party once the deed is executed. Registration of the deed with the Registrar of Firms is a post-completion formality now underway.
The signal: The move deepens RDB's footprint in renewable energy through a low-outlay, milestone-linked entry — a template for listed developers scaling India's solar pipeline without heavy early commitments.
