Toronto-based Altus (TSX: AIF), which provides commercial real estate intelligence and develops the ARGUS valuation software, said the deal adds an AI-native platform built to automate the valuation process for the UK market.

What does Valos do? Founded in 2020, the startup links valuation firms and lenders in a single workflow, running from valuation instruction to report delivery. It handles communication, data exchange, quality control, and report production while creating audit-ready records built to meet Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) compliance rules.

Altus says more than 20% of UK commercial property valuers use Valos, and several leading UK mortgage lenders have adopted it. The platform aims to cut report turnaround times, sharpen accuracy, and centralise property data for portfolio analysis and risk management.

What's the endgame? The acquisition folds workflow automation into Altus's existing valuation and analytics tools, with a focus on tighter collaboration between lenders and valuation professionals.

"Valos is a strong fit for Altus, expanding our capabilities in the valuation and lending workflow with AI-native technology that improves speed, accuracy and confidence in decision-making," said Mike Gordon, chief executive officer and chair of Altus Group.

Alex Kountourides, chief executive officer and co-founder of Valos, said the deal will accelerate the company's growth and product development. He called it "a natural next step: two organizations with shared clients, complementary technologies and a common ambition to modernize the valuation and lending workflow."

The signal: The deal reflects a push to bring AI-native automation into commercial real estate, where valuation still leans on manual workflows and strict compliance. By buying an established platform rather than building one, Altus buys reach into a market where one in five UK valuers already uses the tool.
