DeepSeek buys RMB 141M Unitree stake in first robotics bet

What's the deal? AI developer DeepSeek has acquired roughly 933,400 shares in robotics maker Unitree Robotics through a strategic allotment in Unitree's IPO. The stake, held by operating entity Hangzhou DeepSeek, is worth about RMB 141 million and carries a 36-month lock-up.

Why it matters: This is the first time DeepSeek has appeared directly as a corporate entity on the strategic allotment list of a robotics company, according to monitoring by Beating.

What's the endgame? The issuance materials list DeepSeek as a strategic partner of Unitree. The two plan to cooperate in general artificial intelligence, AI large models, and high-performance robotics, though specific projects have not been disclosed.

By the numbers: Unitree priced its IPO at RMB 150.80 per share, valuing the company at roughly RMB 61 billion at issuance.

The signal: The tie-up pairs one of China's best-known AI model developers with a leading robotics manufacturer, signalling a push to combine large models with physical hardware.
