ETL Systems buys Amphinicy to build end-to-end satellite ground segment

ETL Systems has acquired Amphinicy Technologies, a developer of software for the satellite communications (SATCOM) and Earth Observation (EO) markets. The deal combines ETL's RF and digital hardware with Amphinicy's software portfolio to create a broader ground segment offering. Financial terms were not disclosed.

The two companies want to support customers across the full lifecycle of their satellite networks — from existing RF infrastructure to increasingly virtualised, software-defined ground segments. Amphinicy's products include Monica, a monitoring and control system, and Blink, a wideband software modem.

Operators face growing demand for automation, virtualisation, and intelligent network management, and are seeking partners that can deliver integrated solutions. "The SATCOM market is changing rapidly," said Kevin Dunne, chief executive officer of ETL Systems. "Our customers increasingly expect partners who can deliver complete solutions that combine proven RF performance with digital capabilities."

Amphinicy will keep operating its software business autonomously within the ETL group, maintaining its vendor-agnostic approach and existing customer relationships. Its leadership and product development activities continue after the deal. "For our customers, nothing changes in the way we support them," said Toni Jelavic, chief executive officer of Amphinicy.

ETL's investment and global presence are aimed at helping Amphinicy accelerate its product roadmap and reach new markets across Europe and beyond. That includes ongoing development of ViSAGE, described as the first virtualised 5G-NTN Gateway-as-a-service platform. The combined group targets SATCOM, EO, 5G NTN, defence, and government sectors.

The acquisition reflects consolidation in satellite ground infrastructure, as hardware and software specialists merge to serve operators moving towards digital, virtualised networks. Pairing analogue RF strength with software capabilities is becoming the price of entry for end-to-end providers.
