Makasí lands $6M Series A to expand construction lending in Brazil

What's the deal?

Makasí, a Brazilian fintech that lends to the construction sector, has raised a $6 million (about R$31 million) Series A. VOX Capital and DGF Investimentos co-led, with participation from Triaxis Capital , Crescera Capital , and follow-on from Honey Island Capital and 4UM.

What's the endgame?

Founded in 2023, Makasí targets a persistent gap: small and mid-sized builders and developers struggle to access professional credit. It combines lending with artificial intelligence, data analysis, and real-time monitoring of construction progress to make credit decisions faster and reduce risk.

The model turns a project's physical progress into a dynamic guarantee for the loan, making it viable to serve a market historically underserved by traditional banks.

Why now?

The company waited until it had traction before returning to raise. In just over three years, it has originated more than R$500 million in credit and now supports over 1,000 construction firms across 23 Brazilian states.

"Construímos uma empresa sólida antes de voltar ao mercado para captar recursos," said co-founder and chief executive officer Caio Bonatto.

What's next?

The funds will accelerate lending, fund new financial products, and improve Makasí's proprietary AI models for risk analysis and construction monitoring. After tripling operations from 2024 to 2025, it expects to double in size in 2026 and keep that pace in 2027.

New digital products for builders should account for around 20% of revenue by next year. Makasí now employs about 100 people.

The signal:

The round marks the second investment from VOX Capital's Tech for Good II fund and sits in its smart cities vertical — a bet on AI-driven fintech aimed at real economic bottlenecks. For Makasí, backed early by Terracota Ventures and Honey Island, the raise reflects a growing appetite for lenders using data to reach markets banks have long overlooked.
