Tyler Technologies buys public safety software maker CODY Systems
Tyler Technologies (NYSE: TYL) has acquired CODY Systems , a Pennsylvania-based company that builds software and data management, integration, and exchange tools for public safety, law enforcement, and other public sector agencies. Terms were not disclosed.
Founded in 1979 and headquartered in Pottstown, Pennsylvania, CODY serves more than 300 clients across 10 states, from New Jersey to Hawaii. Its work ranges from statewide data integration to single-agency police records management, and its staff will join Tyler.
Tyler gains CODY's Pathfinder RMS, a cloud-native records management platform, and COBRAnet, which supports cross-agency, regional, and statewide information sharing. Both align with Tyler's cloud-first model and strengthen its position in the small to midsize segment of the public safety market.
"We know that public safety agencies continue to face pressure to do more with limited resources while keeping systems current and secure," said Andrew Hittle, president of Tyler's Public Safety Division. He said CODY's tools support dispatch and records work while helping agencies stretch tight budgets.
"This is a deeply meaningful moment for our family and everyone who has been part of CODY's journey," said David Heffner, president of CODY Systems, noting the company's 47-year history.
Tyler, which sells exclusively to the public sector and reports more than 50,000 installations across 16,000 client locations, continues to expand through acquisition. Folding a smaller specialist into its stack reflects steady consolidation in government technology, where agencies increasingly want connected, cloud-based systems from fewer vendors.
