Baader Bank buys 9.9% stake in crypto firm Hyphe
Baader Bank has acquired a 9.9% stake in Hyphe , the Munich-based crypto trading partner it has worked with since 2023. The investment goes into Hyphe's Dutch parent, B4C Markets B.V., which holds all shares in Hyphe Markets GmbH.
The fintech acts as a liquidity provider and market maker for cryptocurrencies and tokenised assets, focused on banks, brokers, and asset managers in Europe. It is authorised under Germany's Securities Institutions Act and MiCAR, and supervised by BaFin.
The two companies already run Baader's 24/7 crypto trading service, offered to investors through partners of its Baader Trading brand. The stake formalises a partnership both sides plan to deepen.
Baader is building out its digital assets infrastructure. In crypto trades, it acts as financial commission agent, while custody sits with Tangany GmbH — a Munich custodian in which Baader also holds a 9.9% stake.
“As a long-standing business partner for Baader Bank's crypto offering, Hyphe is the ideal partner for this strategic expansion of our business,” said Oliver Riedel, chief executive officer of Baader Bank.
Hyphe chief executive officer Dolf Diederichsen said the pair “share a conviction that crypto and digital asset infrastructure will reshape how investors access financial markets.”
European banks are moving from crypto experiments to ownership stakes in the plumbing behind them. With MiCAR now setting the rulebook, established players like Baader are locking in liquidity and custody partners rather than building from scratch.
