Derichebourg closes €480M Scholz Recycling buyout
Derichebourg SA has completed its acquisition of Germany's Scholz Recycling Group, effective July 31, 2026. Through its subsidiary Derichebourg Environnement, the company bought 100% of Scholz's share capital in a deal valued at €480 million.
The transaction closes an agreement first announced in May 2026. It was financed through Derichebourg's cash reserves and credit facilities.
The acquisition strengthens Derichebourg's position in metal waste recycling. Integrating more than 100 Scholz recycling centres extends its reach into new regions.
Founded in 1872, Scholz is one of Europe's larger metal recyclers, with more than 180 sites across several countries. It generated €1.6 billion in turnover in 2025. Derichebourg expects the deal to be earnings-accretive in the medium term.
The buyout reflects continued consolidation in Europe's fragmented metals recycling sector, where scale and geographic reach increasingly define the leaders.
