Allianz raises Pimco stake to at least 95% in €1.4B move

What's the deal?

Allianz is increasing its stake in US asset-management subsidiary Pimco from 90.6% to 95% or more, spending at least €1.4 billion. The Munich-based insurer announced the move in July 2026.

How is it structured?

Allianz terminated an employee participation program under which Pimco managers held 9.4% of the bond-fund specialist. The program was launched in 2007 and expired in 2020.

The signal:

By buying back manager holdings, Allianz tightens its grip on one of the world's best-known fixed-income houses, consolidating full ownership of a core profit engine.
