Antora Energy raises $550M Series C to build second thermal battery factory
Antora Energy has raised $550 million in a Series C round to expand production of its thermal batteries, which help heavy industry and data centers cut costs and run on renewable energy. Eclipse Ventures and G2 Venture Partners co-led the round, announced in July 2026.
Participants included Bill Gates' Breakthrough Energy Ventures , plus Decarbonization Partners — the joint venture between BlackRock and Temasek .
The funding will let Antora build a second factory for its modular batteries, which pair with renewables or grid power. The batteries store energy as heat for later use by industrial customers and data centers.
Demand for batteries has surged as renewable energy takes up a growing share of the grid — and as data centers strain power supplies. A second plant expands Antora's capacity to meet that demand.
Money is flowing toward technologies that promise to power AI's data-center boom without raising emissions. Antora's raise, backed by both climate-focused and mainstream financial investors, shows storage startups are positioning for a market where clean energy and computing demand collide.
