Fundraise

Orbbec deploys ¥117M from ¥980M raise to build AI vision sensor base

What's the deal? China's Orbbec will inject 117 million yuan into its wholly-owned subsidiary, Orbbec (Guangdong Shunde) Technology, to fund an "AI Vision Sensor and Intelligent Hardware Manufacturing Base Construction Project." The capital comes from a private placement that raised 979,999,924 yuan (roughly $145 million), the company said on July 22.

The round: Orbbec issued 10,103,092 A-shares at 97.00 yuan each after the China Securities Regulatory Commission approved the placement on March 6, 2026. Net proceeds after expenses came to 974,733,043 yuan.

What's the endgame? The funds back two efforts: a "Robot AI Vision and Spatial Perception Technology R&D Platform Project" and the manufacturing base. Total project investment is set at 1,986,656,200 yuan, with 974,733,000 yuan drawn from the raised funds.

Why now? The capital increase lifts Shunde Orbbec's registered capital from 100 million yuan to 217 million yuan. The subsidiary remains wholly owned, and the move requires no shareholder approval as it is neither a related party transaction nor a major asset restructuring.

By the numbers: Shunde Orbbec, established on September 12, 2023, held total assets of 284,148,200 yuan and net assets of 52,974,600 yuan as of March 31, 2026. In the first quarter of 2026, it posted operating revenue of 12,417,900 yuan and a net loss of 10,643,600 yuan.

The signal: The raise ranks among the largest of its kind — above the 91st percentile of all-time private placement deals in China's artificial intelligence sector, based on a sample of 158 rounds. It reflects continued capital flowing into AI vision and spatial perception hardware as robotics demand builds.
