Truecaller to buy US messaging app TextPlus for $15M

What's the deal? Truecaller has agreed to acquire 100% of TextPlus Inc., a Los Angeles-based communications software company, in a deal valuing the target at $15 million on a cash and debt free basis. The purchase will be financed with Truecaller's own funds.

What does TextPlus do? Founded in 2009, TextPlus offers cloud-based voice, messaging, and connectivity through a mobile platform, pitching a cheaper alternative to traditional wireless carriers. It has about 1.5 million monthly active users and a team of 14.

The numbers: For the 12 months ending May 2026, TextPlus posted adjusted net revenue of $5.2 million, a compound annual growth rate of roughly 45% since 2023, with what the companies describe as "good profitability."

What's the endgame? The deal broadens Truecaller's US footprint and moves it toward a fuller communications platform, adding second numbers and internet-based calling (VoIP). It also opens cross-selling across markets and new uses such as business number solutions.

Why now? "Truecaller and TextPlus both have changed how mobile communication takes place and it's only natural that we come together," said Truecaller chief executive officer Rishit JhunjhunwalaDealroom has a profile for this one. The signal: The acquisition points to caller-ID players expanding beyond spam filtering into full consumer telecom, positioning TextPlus as an MVNO replacement product in the US while giving Truecaller a foothold on iOS-focused platforms.
