Yemeksepeti to be sold to SSW Partners for $1.6B as Uber buys Delivery Hero
What's the deal? Uber agreed to acquire German food-delivery group Delivery Hero at a $14.8 billion valuation, offering €41.50 per share. What each side gets: Uber's purchase covers Delivery Hero's operations across 50 markets in Asia, the Middle East, Latin America, and Africa. SSW's separate deal takes on operations in 14 markets, including Turkey, Austria, Czechia, Greece, Romania, Spain, Chile, and Ecuador.
The Yemeksepeti backstory: Founded in 2001, Yemeksepeti operates across Turkey's 81 provinces and in Northern Cyprus. Delivery Hero bought it for $589 million in 2015; it now changes hands again roughly a decade later.
By the numbers: The platform serves more than 30 million users through some 90,000 business partners, per Delivery Hero's 2025 report. Its four Turkish subsidiaries closed 2025 with €46.4 million in total equity and a net loss of €32.4 million.
Why now? The deal is the latest step in a fast-moving consolidation of Turkey's online delivery market. Uber in 2024 bought 85% of Trendyol GODealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → for $700 million, and in 2025 absorbed Getir's delivery operations for $435 million.
What's next? Uber said it will keep Delivery Hero's Berlin headquarters, invest €2 billion in Germany over five years, and maintain current staffing at least through 2029. Pending shareholder and regulatory approvals, the transaction is expected to close in the second half of 2027.
The signal: Uber is consolidating global delivery scale while offloading peripheral markets to financial buyers, and Turkey's crowded delivery sector keeps concentrating into fewer, larger hands.
