Caltius backs SaaS Consulting Group to expand AI and data services

What's the deal?

Caltius Equity Partners has made a growth equity investment in SaaS Consulting Group (SCG), a Los Angeles-based provider of business transformation services for mid-market companies. The firm typically invests $15 million to $30 million of equity in recurring-revenue businesses.

What does SCG do?

Founded in 2011, SCG helps mid-market organisations improve core processes across lead-to-cash and record-to-report. It works across platforms including Salesforce, NetSuite, Nue.io, and Zone & Co, connecting business processes, data, and technology.

The track record:

SCG has served more than 250 companies and become a trusted partner to more than 60 private equity sponsors, many of which use it across multiple portfolio companies.

What's the money for?

The investment supports SCG's existing Salesforce, NetSuite, and iPaaS practices while growing its AI and data services. The plan pairs organic investment with a disciplined acquisition strategy.

Why now?

Newly appointed chief executive officer Chris Holbert framed the move around rising demand for AI in business software. "As AI becomes foundational to modern business applications and business processes, our clients need more than new technology," he said.

The investor's view:

"SCG is an outstanding fit with our strategy of partnering with founder-led businesses serving large and rapidly evolving technology markets," said Garrick Ahn, managing director of Caltius. He said the firm would support growth through both organic investment and acquisitions.

The signal:

Caltius, which has acquired over $1 billion of enterprise value since 1999, is betting that mid-market firms will keep spending on outside expertise to make AI and data useful — not just on software licences, but on the process knowledge to deploy them.
