What's the endgame? Wang Defang traces its roots to Ronghe Shaofang, one of the three famous distilleries of the Maotai region in modern times. It holds a significant place in the lineage of Maotai-town sauce-aroma baijiu.

The signal: The tie-up pairs an established wine producer with a storied liquor label, extending Yiyuan's reach into China's sauce-aroma baijiu segment through a recognised historic brand.
