Infoblox acquires network observability specialist Kentik
What's the deal? Infoblox has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Kentik, a network observability specialist, adding real-time traffic insight to its core DNS and network management tools. The deal still awaits regulatory approval. Terms were not disclosed.
What each side brings: Infoblox has anchored DNS, DHCP, and IP address management (DDI) for more than 20 years. Kentik processes flow data, routing information, cloud VPC logs, and device telemetry across data centers, cloud, WAN, and the open internet.
The rationale: The combination aims to give customers a fuller view of what is happening with their data and when. "Infoblox knows what's on the network and why it can be trusted; Kentik knows how traffic moves and whether it's performing," the companies say. Chief executive officer Scott Harrell points to the "unmatched context" gained because traffic from every IT component passes through Infoblox's technology.
Why now? Infoblox has been building toward what it calls holistic observability. In June 2026 it launched Infoblox IQ, an agentic operations layer that in one customer deployment reduced over 504,000 events to 24 prioritized actions.
What's the endgame? Infoblox uses DNS as a sensor and says it blocks malicious domains an average of 68 days earlier than traditional tools. Correlating that threat intelligence with Kentik's flow data lets teams confirm whether an asset made a connection, how much data left the network, and which systems it reached.
