Founded in 2023, Axle builds software that lets energy suppliers plug flexible assets — such as electric vehicles, home batteries and heat pumps — into wholesale and balancing markets. As fossil fuels are phased off the grid, that flexibility becomes central to matching supply with demand without carbon-heavy backup generation.

Why it matters: The raise more than doubles the funding Axle had disclosed before, following a $9M seed in 2024 and a $1.6M seed in 2023, both backed by Accel, Picus Capital and Eka Ventures. Energize Capital, a specialist climate and energy-software fund, leads this round as Axle looks to scale its platform across the European energy market.
