Schneider Electric to buy AI firm Cognite in $3.1B cash deal
What's the deal? Schneider ElectricDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, the French energy management and automation giant, has agreed to acquire Cognite, a provider of industrial data and AI software, for $3.1 billion in an all-cash transaction.
Founded in 2017, Cognite employs more than 800 people across the Americas, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia-Pacific.
Its cloud-native platform pairs a unified industrial data model with agentic AI, letting customers run AI directly inside plant operations, asset management, and engineering workflows.
Why now? Industrial AI is shifting from describing what happens in infrastructure to deciding and acting on it.
Cognite posted strong momentum to match. In 2025, its annual revenue topped $170 million, with 36% growth in recurring revenue bookings.
The deal strengthens AVEVADealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom →, Schneider Electric's wholly owned software arm, by extending its CONNECT platform with enterprise-wide data contextualisation and agentic AI.
The signal: Schneider Electric is betting that the next phase of industrial intelligence belongs to whoever owns the data foundation, not just the models.
"Intelligence demands data, and unlocking its full value requires AI," said chief executive officer Olivier Blum.
By folding Cognite into AVEVA, Schneider Electric aims to give physical infrastructure the ability to "think, adapt, and act" — turning operational complexity into a competitive edge.
