Six Robotics raises €12M to build Europe's defence autonomy software

Founded in 2023, Six Robotics builds software that lets drones from different makers operate as coordinated swarms — even in contested environments. Its Valkyrie platform is already deployed by the Norwegian Armed Forces.
The company works closely with the Norwegian Defence Research Establishment to align its tools with real operational needs.
Why now? "Collaborative autonomy will define the next decade of defence," said chief executive officer and founder Christian Fredrik Eggesbø. "Europe cannot afford to depend on others for the software that defines what its forces can do."
The round marks DTCP Defence's first investment. It lands as European capital floods into DefenceTech and drone autonomy, with Norway emerging as a regional hub.

What could go wrong? Swarm autonomy is among the hardest problems in modern defence, and few European teams can build at this level.
Scaling internationally — while serving militaries with strict procurement rules — could test the startup's speed and focus.
The signal: By committing its debut DTCP Defence cheque to a software-first swarm play rather than hardware, the €500 million fund is betting that autonomy code — not the drones themselves — is where European sovereignty will be won or lost. For a breakout-stage startup that has scaled from five to nearly 90 people in two years, the round positions Six Robotics among the few Nordic teams turning that thesis into deployed capability with the Norwegian Armed Forces.
