Oblique Therapeutics raises US$1.7M in fully subscribed rights issue
What's the deal? Swedish biotech Oblique Therapeutics has closed a fully subscribed rights issue, raising roughly US$1.7M before costs.
The Gothenburg-based company issued 7,025,060 new shares at US$0.24 each, lifting its total from 56,297,259 to 63,322,319.
Shareholders who opted out face about 11% dilution.
Why now? The capital is expected to fund operations into 2027, supporting Oblique's core drug development and planned collaborations.
Chairman Hans Peter Ostler said the funds would help validate its proprietary AbiProt platform, which generates antibodies for hard-to-reach drug targets.
The subscription price of US$0.24 marked a jump from the 2025 subscription price of US$0.18, a signal of growing investor optimism.
What could go wrong? Oblique closed the raise without any guarantee commitments — notable given what it called a "continued challenging financing environment" for biotech.
Registration of the new share capital with the Swedish Companies Registration Office is still pending. Until then, interim shares will not convert into ordinary shares.
The signal: The pricing tells the real story here: at US$0.24 per share versus the 2025 subscription price of US$0.18, Oblique pulled off a full subscription without guarantee commitments, a rare show of conviction for a breakout-stage biotech still chasing validation of its AbiProt platform in a market where many peers are struggling to raise at all.
