Agility Robotics to go public via $2.5bn SPAC merger

What's the deal? Agility Robotics, maker of humanoid robots for logistics and manufacturing, is going public through a $2.5 billion SPAC merger, the Wall Street Journal reports.

Its flagship robot, Digit, already works in warehouses, handling packages and sorting bins.

Why now? The merger gives Agility the capital and public market visibility to scale and speed up product development.

It has raised over $641 million privately, including a $400 million Series C-3 round in June 2025 led by Humanoid Global and Nvidia.

Agility has also struck deals with Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada and Mercado Libre to deploy its robots.

What could go wrong? SPAC listings have lost favour after many post-merger stocks tumbled.

Agility now faces public market scrutiny while proving humanoid robots can work profitably at scale — a challenge that has tripped up better-funded rivals.

The signal: A late-stage humanoid robotics company turning to a SPAC for liquidity reflects how capital-intensive the race to deploy human-like machines has become. With corporate backers like Nvidia already on its cap table, Agility is betting that public markets will reward field-proven robots over flashy prototypes — even as the SPAC route remains out of favour.
