Why now? Founded in 2025 by Mariama Diallo and Ayooluwa Odemuyiwa, AethexAI already processes more than 17,000 calls daily across high-volume enterprise use cases.
These include KYC verification, debt collection, and customer activation. The new capital will fund enterprise rollout, APIs, SDKs, and regional expansion.
What could go wrong? Voice AI must handle regional dialects of English, French, and Arabic — a tough technical challenge across diverse markets.
To tackle it, AethexAI is building its own small-model architecture, the Kora series, ranging from 300 million to 1.7 billion parameters to cut latency.
The signal: With lead investor 4DX Ventures and Enza Capital both backing African-focused startups, the round reflects growing conviction that voice AI tuned to local dialects — rather than imported Western tools — can win in emerging markets. AethexAI's bet on small Kora-series models, ranging from 300 million to 1.7 billion parameters, points to a leaner approach prioritising low latency over raw scale in regions where infrastructure and language diversity demand efficiency.
