Artis raises $7.3M seed led by LiveOak Ventures
Artis, an Austin-based startup that manages branding, social media, websites, and AI search presence for high-end residential architects, interior designers, and custom home builders, has raised $7.3M in seed funding. LiveOak Ventures led the round, with participation from mark vc and Capital Factory. The company also secured up to $3M in revolving credit from Banc of California, bringing total potential capital to $10.3M.
Founded in 2022, Artis works with more than 60 firms, including prominent names like McALPINE, Kligerman AD, and Schafer & Company. It builds an intelligence layer around each practice — learning its voice, standards, and aesthetic sensibility — then uses that to run its marketing channels. The work compounds: it sharpens the longer the partnership runs.
The rise of generative AI search is reshaping how potential clients discover design and construction firms. Artis is expanding beyond social media into websites and what it calls generative-engine optimisation (GEO) — ensuring practices show up correctly in AI-powered search results.
Co-founder and chief executive officer Zach Rubin says architects and builders report that only about 20% of their day goes to actual design work. The rest is consumed by marketing, procurement, and coordination. Artis aims to take that burden off their plate.
Artis operates in a niche — luxury residential design — which limits its addressable market. Scaling a service that depends on deeply understanding each client's unique voice and standards is inherently harder than selling a pure software product. The company also faces a tension common to AI-augmented services: clients in creative fields may resist anything that feels like it dilutes their brand's authenticity.
LiveOak Ventures, an Austin-rooted fund, leading the round underscores growing investor appetite for AI-native services that target fragmented, offline-heavy professional niches rather than broad horizontal SaaS. With Artis still at the early stage and already serving more than 60 high-end firms, the bet appears to be on compounding switching costs: the longer the platform learns a practice's voice and standards, the harder it becomes to walk away — giving Artis a pathway to expand into procurement and operations without re-selling the relationship.
