Czech video startup Webout raises €1.65M to crack the US market

What's the deal? Webout, a Czech startup that built a platform for real-time personalised video, has raised a €1.65M seed round to fund its expansion into the US. The round was led by Seed Starter SK, with JIC VenturesDealroom has a profile for this one. Try Dealroom → and Energy Venture Pals also participating. Co-founder Michal Orsava has already relocated to San Francisco to lead the push.

Founded in Brno, the five-year-old company processes personalised video content directly on the end user's device rather than on central servers — cutting compute costs while enabling campaigns that adapt in real time to each viewer.

Why now? Webout has built meaningful enterprise traction across Europe. Its client roster includes brands like Allianz, Notino, and Česká spořitelna, alongside sports clubs AC Sparta Praha and Club Brugge. The 12-person team posted revenue exceeding €600,000 in 2025.

The numbers back up the pitch: a campaign for AC Sparta Praha generated 1.7 million organic views with no paid media spend. Webout says it delivers up to ten times higher click-through rates than standard video campaigns and a 95% completion rate.

What could go wrong? The US market is crowded with martech and video personalisation players, many of them well-funded. Webout's 12-person team will need to build brand awareness, a sales pipeline, and local credibility from scratch — all while competing against incumbents with deeper pockets and established customer relationships.

Scaling a European SaaS business in the US is notoriously difficult. The €1.65M raise is modest by American standards, meaning the company will need to prove product-market fit quickly or raise again soon.

The signal: Webout's seed round fits a rising pattern of CEE-born SaaS companies using European client rosters to build credibility before targeting the US — a playbook that has gained traction as investors like JIC Ventures specifically back founders with that trajectory. The modest round size, paired with revenue already exceeding €600,000, suggests Webout is betting on capital efficiency and product-led growth to carve out space in the crowded US personalisation market rather than competing on spend.
