CircuitHub raises $28M to automate electronics manufacturing in the US and Europe

What's the deal? CircuitHub, a startup that streamlines electronics production through software-defined manufacturing, has raised $28M in funding led by Plural. The capital will fuel the expansion of its automated factories across the US and Europe, helping engineers working on satellites, robotics, and autonomous systems move from design to production-ready boards in days rather than weeks.

Why now? Demand for faster, localised hardware manufacturing is surging as companies in defence, aerospace, and robotics race to bring complex electronics to market. Supply chain disruptions and geopolitical tensions have made domestic production capacity a strategic priority on both sides of the Atlantic.

What could go wrong? Scaling physical manufacturing is capital-intensive and operationally complex — far more so than scaling software. CircuitHub will need to build and staff new facilities while maintaining the speed and quality that differentiate it. Competition from established contract manufacturers and other startups in the space could also squeeze margins.

The signal: This raise reflects a broader trend of investment flowing into reshoring and automating hardware production. As AI and robotics proliferate, the bottleneck increasingly sits not in design but in manufacturing. Startups that can compress the journey from prototype to production stand to capture significant value in a market long dominated by slow, offshore supply chains.
