Ampere Analysis acquires PlumResearch to boost streaming data

What's the deal? Ampere Analysis, a media data and analytics firm, has acquired PlumResearch, a Warsaw-based specialist in global streaming audience analytics. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Founded in 2015, PlumResearch has a 20-person team and operates across more than 75 markets, delivering viewership data at scale through its Showlabs platform. The deal merges PlumResearch's audience measurement capabilities with Ampere's market sizing, consumer behaviour, and title-level data.

PlumResearch was backed from day one by Polish venture capital fund Tar Heel Capital Pathfinder. Separately, Ampere announced that Goldenpeak, a private equity firm focused on high-growth business and information services, has invested in the company.

Why now? The streaming industry's fragmentation across dozens of platforms and geographies has made audience measurement increasingly complex — and increasingly valuable. As studios, distributors, and rights holders compete for attention, demand for granular, cross-platform viewership data is surging.

Goldenpeak's concurrent investment in Ampere suggests the company is entering an expansion phase, using fresh capital and the PlumResearch acquisition to strengthen its position in a consolidating analytics market.

What could go wrong? Integrating two data methodologies — panel-based audience measurement and market-level analytics — is technically challenging. If the combined datasets don't mesh cleanly, the promised "connected insights" could take longer to materialise than clients expect.

There's also the question of competition. Larger players like Nielsen, Parrot Analytics, and others are racing to own the streaming measurement space, and Ampere will need to move quickly to capitalise on this deal.

The signal: This acquisition reflects a broader trend: as streaming matures, the infrastructure around it — analytics, measurement, ad tech — is consolidating fast. Companies that can stitch together fragmented data across platforms and markets hold growing leverage.

For the Polish startup ecosystem, PlumResearch's exit is a notable milestone — a VC-backed company scaled to global reach from Warsaw and acquired by an established international firm. It also underscores the growing importance of central and eastern Europe as a source of specialised tech talent and products.
