Insider One acquires retail martech unicorn Bluecore after $500M Series E

What's the deal?

Insider One, an agentic customer engagement platform, has acquired Bluecore, a New York-based retail martech unicorn that serves more than 400 US enterprise brands. Bluecore's client roster includes Sephora, Ralph Lauren, J.Crew, Bloomingdale's, The North Face, and Michael Kors. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Insider One was founded in 2012 by Hande Cilingir, Mehmet Sinan Toktay, Muharrem Derinkok, and Serhat Soyuerel. It builds AI-powered tools that autonomously plan, execute, and optimise customer engagement across channels in real time.

"Our platform doesn't layer AI onto marketing — it is the execution layer," said Cilingir, co-founder and chief executive officer. "With the acquisition of Bluecore, we further strengthen our data infrastructure edge to make autonomous customer engagement possible at enterprise scale."

Why now?

Insider One closed a $500M Series E led by General Atlantic in November 2024, giving it the firepower for a deal of this scale. The acquisition slots neatly into its push to expand in the North American enterprise retail market — exactly where Bluecore has deep roots.

The broader martech landscape is consolidating as brands demand fewer, more capable platforms rather than patchwork stacks. Adding Bluecore's data infrastructure and 400-plus brand relationships accelerates that consolidation play.

What could go wrong?

Integrating two complex AI-driven platforms is never straightforward. Bluecore's enterprise clients chose it for a specific product; any disruption during migration could push them toward competitors.

The deal's undisclosed price tag also makes it hard to judge whether Insider One overpaid — a common risk in post-mega-round acquisitions when capital is plentiful.

The signal:

Insider One's tagline as a "marketing platform for emerging markets" makes this acquisition a notable pivot toward the US enterprise retail segment, leveraging its $500M Series E — led by global growth investor General Atlantic — to buy rather than build that foothold. With both Insider One and Bluecore classified as late-growth stage companies on Dealroom, the deal underscores how consolidation in martech is increasingly happening between mature, well-funded players rather than through early-stage acqui-hires.
